Our Talent Tribute Monthly Feature is designed to celebrate the phenomenal staff that serve our Members.
In less than two years, Jasmine has already made her mark at VALLEYLIFE. After joining the team in October 2024 as a DSP I in DTA 6, she quickly demonstrated her drive and dedication. When a Senior Assistant Supervisor position became available in DTA 7 in early 2025, Jasmine didn’t hesitate to step forward and take on the challenge. She held the role for a year before returning to her roots as a DSP I in early 2026, this time for DTA 3.
Now, within DTA 3, Jasmine is making sure some of VALLEYLIFE’s most vulnerable Members are cared for and given opportunities to thrive. One of the things she values most about her role is working directly with Members and supporting them as they build independence. Although she didn’t have prior experience in the field, she quickly discovered a passion for the work and finds joy in watching Members learn and reach new milestones.
Originally from Palau, Jasmine brings a wealth of life experience to her role, including 20 years of military service, during which she spent time living in Korea. Outside of work, she enjoys horseback riding and bowling.
We sat down and asked Jasmine about her VALLEYLIFE experience as a whole, and this is what she had to say.
1. How would you describe your ideal day at VALLEYLIFE?
My Ideal day at VALLEYLIFE is a day where things are quiet and Members can enjoy their music and TV. It would be a day where everyone, both Members and staff are happy.
2. What has your time at VALLEYLIFE taught you over the years?
My time at VALLEYLIFE has taught me patience and to look at others in a positive way. I have learned to understand Members better, because once you understand them more, you can pick up on moods, likes, and dislikes.
3. Can you tell us what you enjoy most about interacting with Members?
My favorite part about interacting with Members is being able to make them happy and create an environment where they feel safe.
4. What skills or qualities do you think are most important for success in your position?
To be successful, you need to observe the Members. You need to be able to understand their needs and wants, and you can do that by listening. To me, that is the most important part. Everyone is different, you need to take care of both the Members and the staff, because they are the ones that help the most.
5. Lastly, what do you hope to accomplish or learn in your future at VALLEYLIFE?
In my future at VALLEYLIFE, I want to become a better version of myself. When I became a supervisor, I didn’t really have a lot of training and had to learn along the way. I’ve made mistakes, but I want to continue to learn from them.
