Talent Tribute: Rose Forbes

Our Talent Tribute Monthly Feature is designed to celebrate the phenomenal staff that serve our Members.

Rose joined the VALLEYLIFE team in August 2024, bringing nearly two decades of experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Inspired by her son with autism and a passion for helping others, Rose found her calling in the field more than 20 years ago. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of leadership roles, and today serves as Senior Supervisor for VALLEYLIFE's Glenn and 16th Avenue group homes.

What Rose enjoys most about her role is creating an environment where Members feel safe, supported, and happy. Whether it's ensuring their needs are met, helping them enjoy activities they love, or simply sharing conversations and laughter, her goal is to make each day meaningful. The relationships she has built with Members are especially rewarding, and she treasures the trust they place in her.

Outside of work, Rose enjoys spending time with her wife, relaxing at home with their three cats and dog, watching MMA and soccer, bargain shopping, and trying new restaurants. Originally from New York, she moved to Arizona in 1988 and has called it home ever since.

We sat down and asked Rose about her VALLEYLIFE experience as a whole, and this is what she had to say.

1. How would you describe your ideal day at VALLEYLIFE?

My ideal day is making sure the Members are comfortable and getting what they need. I want them to have a fun day, whether that's after DTA, sitting and talking with staff, playing games, or doing whatever they enjoy. My ultimate goal is for them to live a happy life.

2. What has your time at VALLEYLIFE taught you over the past year?

Working at VALLEYLIFE has taught me that I can actually have a job that I enjoy because I really do love being here. It's also taught me that it's all about the Members, not about the money. Everybody here, from the staff to the Members, is really nice and willing to help.

3. Can you tell us what you enjoy most about interacting with Members?

I love seeing them smile and laugh. I love seeing them enjoy themselves and enjoy life. Building those bonds with the Members means a lot to me. Knowing they trust me enough that they don't want me to leave at the end of the day really shows the connection we've built.

4. What skills or qualities do you think are most important for success in your position?

You have to make sure everything gets done in a timely manner and that staff are doing their jobs. Taking over both an ASPIRE home and a non-ASPIRE home has been a challenge, but it's a challenge that I wanted to take on. I enjoy working with the staff and helping them succeed.

5. Lastly, what do you hope to accomplish or learn in your future at VALLEYLIFE?

I want to accomplish everything I can. I still have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to the computer side of things, but I want to keep learning more about the organization. Eventually, I'd like to move up into a potential office position.
