This year’s Friends of VALLEYLIFE Luncheon served as a heartfelt reminder that when a community comes together, everyone has a seat at the table.
The Thunderbird Charities Bistro was buzzing with activity as VALLEYLIFE volunteers, supporters, staff, and Members gathered for an afternoon filled with delicious food, meaningful connections, and a celebration of the incredible work being done throughout the organization.
After eight weeks of training, five Members from several Day Treatment Areas helped add an extra touch of charm to the festivities by assisting the Fund Development team with serving food to attendees. It was through this training experience that Members like Alyssa C. gained the confidence to pursue her dream of becoming a barista.
During the event, attendees were asked what inspired them to support VALLEYLIFE, and guests like Marlena Krueger didn't hesitate to share their reasons.
“I love VALLEYLIFE,” she said. “They do such good for the community, and it is something that is so needed.”
Guests also had the opportunity to learn about several exciting initiatives that are expanding opportunities and support for VALLEYLIFE Members. Among them were updates within the ASPIRE Autism Program as well as more information about VALLEYLIFE’s two newest initiatives, a newly licensed Home Health Agency and the organization’s first Nursing-Supported group home.
To some, the health-based programs may appear to overlap, but the two both address the important, but separate health needs of Members. The Home Health Agency is designed to provide critical nursing services such as medication management and specialized medical care, allowing Members to receive support from trusted providers while remaining in familiar environments. VALLEYLIFE’s first Nursing-Supported group home, which is nearing completion, will offer 24-hour nursing care for Members with significant medical needs. Together, these initiatives represent VALLEYLIFE's ongoing commitment to expanding its continuum of care and ensuring Members have access to the services and support they need to thrive.
The afternoon concluded with an energetic performance by VALLEYLIFE’s Glee Club. Following renditions of “Viva La Compagnie” by The Brothers Four and “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton, the performers were met with thunderous applause from the audience.
As the first Friends of VALLEYLIFE celebration to be held on VALLEYLIFE’s campus, it was truly a day to remember.
