Gratitude could be felt throughout the banquet hall of Moon Valley Country Club this morning as attendees of this year’s Friends of VALLEYLIFE Breakfast were recognized. Several dozen longtime VALLEYLIFE supporters, donors, and committee members attended and were treated to a delicious meal and filled in on what is new at VALLEYLIFE.
The event, which is hosted by VALLEYLIFE annually, presented attendees with a powerful metaphor about “walking a mile in others’ shoes.” This was done by Margaret Stephens-Reed, Director of Fund Development, trying on everything from a pair of sparkly heels, belonging to VALLEYLIFE Board of Directors member Amy Coblentz, to a shocking size 15 pair of sneakers previously owned by NBA star LeBron James.
In addition, attendees were treated to a performance from the VALLEYLIFE Glee Club, singing classics like Wade in the Water by Ramsey Lewis and Banana Boat (Day-O) by Harry Belafonte. Following the Glee performers, six VALLEYLIFE Members participated in a fashion show, which allowed them to show off a new outfit donated to them by North Mountain Community Thrift Store.
Other notable moments included guest speaker Terry Perkins sharing his daughter Sarah’s over 20-year-long experience in VALLEYLIFE’s Day Program along with the North Phoenix Kiwanis Club being presented with the 2024 Community Service Award.
